Setting up an Expert Advisor (EA) on MT4 or MT5 is easy.
Simply follow the steps below and you will be up and running in no time.
Find The Expert Advisor
Find the file you want to use in your trading platform. MT4 EA’s are a file ending in .mq4 while MT5 EA’s are a file ending in .mq5
For example, the Waka Waka EA would be something like wakawaka.mq4
Open your file explorer and search the name of the file you have downloaded or sourced.
Open the MT4 or MT5
Open the MT4 or MT5, then open the Data Folder.
This can be done by clicking on File then Data Folder.
This will open up a file explorer that links to your trading platform. Double click MQL4, then Experts.
Drag and Drop the EA into Data Folder
With both folder windows open (or accessible), drag the EA from your file explorer using your mouse, and drop the file into the Data Folder into the Experts folder.
In the navigator, right click in the white space, then click Refresh. Your EA should now be visible in the relevant folder in the Navigator section.
