MT5 - MetaTrader 5
The MetaTrader 5 (MT5) platform is quite common, and with the introduction of share CFD’s to many brokers, it is becoming more popular. It is very similar to MetaTrader 4 with a few minor differences to the interface. For algo traders, you will be using the language “MQL5” to programme with in MetaEditor. The MT5 platform is commonly used for prop firms like FTMO or regular CFD brokers.
MT4 - MetaTrader 4
The MetaTrader 4 platform is probably the most common platform out there. It is used with more brokers out there. It is very similar to MetaTrader 5 with a few minor differences to the interface. For algo traders, you will be using the language “MQL4” to programme in MetaEditor.
CTrader
The C-Trader platform is a clean platform that has a variety of options when it comes to setting multiple stop levels and take profits. It is more modern looking than MetaTrader however less brokers use it. For algo traders, you will be using the language called ‘cAlgo’ to programme.
